Biography

Andranik Ghazarian — art expert and appraiser

Andranik Ghazarian heads Fine Art International Switzerland AG (FINAIS), a Swiss laboratory where paintings are examined, dated, valued and documented for collectors, museums and the art trade. Instruments and archives are used side by side, and every assessment ends in a written report — restoration, storage and transport are organised around it.

Andranik Ghazarian is the founder and managing director of Fine Art International Switzerland AG (FINAIS), an international art laboratory in Switzerland. Its clients include collectors, institutions and art professionals, and the work begins where most opinions end: in front of the object, with instruments, archives and a written report.

Everything that can be said about a picture must be said in front of the picture.

What Andranik Ghazarian works on

The practice of FINAIS combines scientific examination, art-historical research, condition assessment and documentation with the coordination of restoration, storage and transport. These four areas deliberately remain under one roof: a technical result without art-historical context stays mute, and research without material findings cannot be verified.

In dialogue with the art world

Alongside the laboratory work, Andranik Ghazarian is in constant exchange with the people who shape the understanding of works of art. Guests have included the French art historian, critic and curator Philippe Piguet; the actor, painter and collector Federico Castelluccio with Yvonne Maria Schäfer; the Paris lawyer Michel Godest, long-standing counsel to Jean-Paul Belmondo; the art historian and Modigliani specialist Christian Parisot; the gallerist and curator Zhao Lei; the art expert Dimitri Nakov; Sheikh Rachid from Saudi Arabia with Sergey Simonyan from Armenia; and Dr. Maha Abdulhalim Radwi of the University of Jeddah with her team.

Works from the FINAIS Collection have also travelled: the exhibition “Romance & Starlight” in Guizhou, China, showed pieces from the collection to a Chinese audience.
